I’ve just kicked off the third round of a 28-day challenge inside my community, and I’m being reminded how powerful challenges can be for creating momentum.
What’s making this round especially fun is that we’ve had a number of new members join recently, so there’s a real buzz in the space right now. Even though the challenge itself isn’t brand new, the energy feels fresh because the people are.
One thing I really like about challenges is that they give people a clear reason to engage. Rather than hoping members will just “be active”, you’re giving them something to step into together.
A few things that have helped me when running them:
- Keep the actions simple
- Make participation visible
- Build for momentum rather than perfection
- Tie it to a specific result
- Make it feel supportive, not heavy
I’ve found they can be great for helping new members integrate quickly, reactivating quieter members, and creating a stronger sense of community.
Curious...Do you run challenges in your community, or is that something you’d like to try? What’s been your experience with them?
