Toyota Noah with a 1NZ-FSE engine, customer states that my transmission was replaced a few weeks ago but slowly they noticed that the vehicle has a serious vibration at idle and acceleration. Someone mentioned that it could be the engine and transmission mount, so he asked if I can take a look at it.
First, the client's complaint was verified but I noticed that the transmission fluid was leaking from the bell housing area.
Second, act on the diagnose and findings.
Third, found the fault of the excessive vibration and fluid leak.
Forth, found the cause (dowel missing on transmission bell housing- use for alignment of the engine block to the transmission).
The torque converter, seals and flywheel has to be replace before we can confirm if the transmission is still in good working condition.
This is definitely a costly, unfortunate repair that has to be done but at least we were able to diagnose without guessing.
Test-Not Guess.
