Critiques Welcome! (Like, OMG no one is reading all of those outfit details!)
Finalizing the year-end review for my first full-time employee. She earned max raise and max bonus, which I have never done before. Her value to the company is unquestionable and she should see her company codify that value.
Today's outfit:
• Jacket — DOJ‑006 (Brooks Brothers): A Brooks Brothers Brooksool navy blazer in pure wool, fully lined in acetate for smooth structure. The rope‑padded shoulders and high armholes give it a sharp, upright silhouette on camera. Its deep midnight‑blue tone and polished brass buttons create a timeless, executive presence ideal for a leadership VC day.
• Vest — VWC‑005 (Hisdern): A burgundy wool‑tweed business vest with notched lapels and silver dual‑direction buttons. The herringbone weave provides depth and texture—perfect for a cold, rainy February morning—while the color creates a subtle dialogue with the tie without becoming matchy.
• Shirt — DS‑041 (Charles Tyrwhitt): A new non‑iron Prince of Wales check dress shirt in light blue. Diagonal twill adds dimension under the blazer, and the classic point collar frames today’s knot cleanly. Slim fit with excellent camera clarity; soft hand with reliable wrinkle control.
• Tie — NT‑029 (Fort Belvedere): A burgundy real grenadine silk tie in garza weave, 3‑fold and self‑tipped. Matte texture, elegant drape, and absolutely business formal. Paired with a Four‑in‑Hand knot, which gives the ideal asymmetric roll for a point collar. Finished with the TA‑001 Fort Belvedere platinum collar clip, adding lift and that refined mid‑century contour.
• Pocket Square — PS‑035 (Fort Belvedere): White linen with a hand‑stitched burgundy X‑edge. Worn in a classic TV fold, allowing just the faint burgundy accent to echo the tie and vest. A crisp anchor point that reads perfectly over video.
• Trousers — SL‑003 (Santorelli): Light‑to‑mid grey virgin‑wool slacks with subtle texture. Balanced drape, business‑formal tone, and a clean contrast against the navy blazer. Tailored twice for dialed‑in fit and smooth camera lines.
• Socks — DSo‑075 (Fort Belvedere): Italian OTC cotton socks in medium grey with a muted blue shadow stripe. Comfortable, excellent stay‑up performance, and harmonize quietly with both trousers and shirt.
• Footwear — DSh‑012 (Johnson & Murphy): Burgundy Goodyear‑welted wingtip Oxfords on an almond last. Leather uppers with classic medallion broguing create a confident, heritage business aesthetic. Burgundy leather ties the entire color story (tie → vest → shoes) into a cohesive narrative.
• Belt — B‑009 (Nordstrom): Dark‑brown leather with a clean silver buckle. Understated and correctly aligned with the metal accents across the outfit.
• Watches — W‑001 (Apple) & W‑006 (Fossil): The Fossil Townsman (left wrist) on a dark‑brown strap to keep the analog line in harmony with shoes and belt.
• Pen — P‑001 (Montblanc): The Montblanc 146 LeGrand fountain pen in black resin with platinum trim—your signature leadership instrument for all days involving a blazer.
• Business Card Case — BCC‑004 (Fort Belvedere): Burgandy leather with tan interior and soft patina. Warm, textured, and perfectly aligned with the day’s leather palette.
• Gloves — GL‑001 (Fort Belvedere): Midnight‑blue lamb‑nappa gloves, cashmere‑lined, with full touchscreen usability—ideal for cold, rainy weather.
• Fragrance — FR‑001 (Montblanc “Legend”): A clean aromatic fougère with bergamot, lavender, and oakmoss. Modern, camera‑safe, and professional—excellent for business‑forward VC days.
