SIBO- Session 2 of the Thriving Gut Series
You can find Dr here in this group, you can even direct message her! And you can also find her on her website, www.drabigailseaver.com
At this session, we delved into Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) and did a fun, Thriving Gut guided relaxation/visualization at the end.
If you have ever been diagnosed with or suspected Irritable Bowel Syndrome, chances are good that SIBO has been a part of that.
How to know if SiBo might be a factor for you?
  • Gas and bloating after every meal, especially meals with fiber and prebiotics like garlic, leeks, asparagus
  • Nutrient deficiencies- iron, zinc, vitamin D, calcium deficiencies, etc. for no clear reason- microbes in your small intestine make nutrient absorption more difficult
  • Fat Malabsorption/ not being able to digest fat well, you might literally notice globs of fat in the toilet at times
What makes SIBO worse?
  • Sugar and all kinds of sweeteners
  • Medications like Antibiotics, acid blockers, steroids
What makes SIBO better?
  • Movement and exercise, whatever you enjoy, helps keep things humming happily in your digestive system
  • Spacing out meals- having at least 14 hours between dinner and breakfast, reducing snacks to give time between meals
  • Might need herbal antibiotics to treat the infection, and then rebuild with healthy probiotics and prebiotics
