Giving From Overflow, Not Pressure | Monday Push
Good morning, To acquire wisdom is to love yourself; people who cherish understanding will prosper. Proverbs 19:8 NLT I want to be honest—these past few devotionals have been heavy. Writing them reminded me of situations where I had to grow, especially in learning how to say “yes” to myself. One thing I admire about Jesus is His self-awareness. He wasn’t afraid to step away, to rest, or to pray. He understood that caring for Himself wasn’t selfish—it was necessary. Overflow only happens when something is full first. That means taking time to fill your cup. Taking time to secure your family’s finances. Taking time to stay aligned with your spouse. When those things are in place, giving comes from overflow—not pressure. And sometimes, the wisest decision is saying “no” so you can say “yes” to what God has already entrusted to you. If this is hard for you, here are a few practical reminders: - Don’t answer immediately. Take time to count the cost. - Set a giving limit before anyone asks. - Talk with your spouse. Unity matters. - Offer other resources when you can instead of taking it on yourself. These conversations may feel heavy, but they matter. Stewardship means managing well—and that includes protecting your resources so you’re able to give wisely and freely. Reflection Question What signals tell me it’s time to say “not right now”? Prayer of the Week Dear God, Thank You for reminding me that caring for what You’ve entrusted to me is part of good stewardship. Help me grow in discernment to give wisely and protect the financial health of my family. In Jesus’ name, Amen. Enjoy time with your family this week.
