Giving, Lending, and Guarding Your Peace | Monday Push
Good morning, (Early release: I can't schedule here) “It’s poor judgment to guarantee another person’s debt or put up security for a friend.”‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭17:18‬ ‭NLT‬‬ Something I’ve learned about Proverbs is that they aren’t absolute promises—they’re observations from people who’ve lived long enough to see patterns. They show us that when we follow certain principles, our chances of walking in wisdom and peace are much higher. With that in mind, here’s my confession: I’ve loaned or given money before when I knew I shouldn’t have. It was poor judgment because the moment you issue a loan, you’re taking a risk on someone else’s situation—hoping they’ll be able to pay you back. And the truth is, most of us seek a loan because we don’t have the money at the moment. Now, there are times when God nudges you to sacrifice for someone. That’s not what I’m talking about here. Always pray for His instruction, but also trust the discernment He’s given you. Here are a few guidelines you can consider: - If you can’t treat it as a gift, you probably shouldn’t do the loan. - If someone gets irritated by your questions about repayment, you probably shouldn’t do the loan. - If it would create tension in your own household finances, you probably shouldn’t do the loan. Money disagreements strain relationships faster than we realize. Setting healthy boundaries doesn’t just protect your wallet—it protects your peace and the connections God has entrusted to you. Reflection Question of the Week: Have you decided on your giving boundary for your family? Take a moment to share this with your spouse or accountability partner and agree on those boundaries together. Prayer of the Week Dear God, Give me the discernment to know when to help someone who asks for support. Teach me how to give freely, without expecting anything in return. In Jesus’ name, Amen. Have a good week, -Latrisa

Hungry and Grateful at the Same Time | Monday Push
Hello, It is good for workers to have an appetite; an empty stomach drives them on. Proverbs 16:26 NLT What are you hungry for right now—relief, peace, or maybe freedom? With Thanksgiving coming up in the United States, so many families will gather in a circle and pray with gratitude. And it reminds me that you really can be grateful and hungry at the same time. You can appreciate where God has you and still long for what He’s leading you toward. There are things you want to accomplish. God puts those desires in your heart. And the beautiful thing is, you don’t have to choose between ambition and contentment. Both can live together. Jesus showed us this. He came with a clear purpose—to be the sacrificial offering. But He wasn’t content to only fulfill that purpose at the cross. He was hungry to make an impact throughout His life. Every moment mattered. Every interaction was intentional. As you walk toward financial freedom, I want to encourage you to think beyond your own needs. Let your progress open your eyes to the ways you can serve others. Reflection Question How can I stay hungry to improve the world around me once God has satisfied my needs? Prayer of the Week Dear God, Thank You for the blessings You’ve placed in my life. Now that my needs are cared for, help me see the needs around me more clearly. Show me how to serve others with what You’ve given me. In Jesus’ name, Amen. Growing Into the Blessing You Want | Monday Push
Good morning, Better to have little, with fear for the Lord, than to have great treasure and inner turmoil. Proverbs 15:16 If you’ve been with me for a while, you’ve heard me share that my first tithe as an adult was $16. It wasn’t even 10%—it was simply what I could give. I’m grateful for that moment now, because it taught me something early: having more money doesn’t automatically bring peace. You might be thinking, “Latrisa, let me find out for myself.” I get it. If someone gave you an extra $100 a month, you’d probably know exactly where to put it. What about $1,000? Most of us could map that out fast. But let’s keep going. What would you do with $10,000 extra each month? A safer car? A better home? A school program for your kids? Now imagine $100,000 extra each month. Would you truly feel prepared for that kind of responsibility? Could you carry it without anxiety, without pressure from others, without losing yourself in the weight of it all? It’s not wrong to ask God for increase—His Word tells us He provides for our needs. But peace and capacity don’t always grow at the same pace as our desires. My mentor says often, “God’s delay is His kindness.” And I believe that. Sometimes He holds back the “more” because He’s still building the person who will manage it well. Let’s be people who are content with where we are, while allowing God to shape us for where we’re going. Reflection Question What is my plan for the next level of increase in my life? Prayer of the Week Dear God, Teach me to trust Your timing. You see my future clearly, and You know when I’m ready for more. Strengthen my character, prepare my heart, and guide my steps. Help me grow into the person who can carry the blessings You have planned. In Jesus’ name, Amen. Can You Handle the Blessing You're Praying for? | Monday Push
Hello, Without oxen, a stable stays clean, but you need a strong ox for a large harvest. Proverbs 14:4 Have you ever tried cooking without dirtying a few dishes? It’s impossible, right? To enjoy that delicious meal you’ve been craving, you have to make a little mess first. The same is true with increase. You’ve probably heard the phrase, “More money, more problems.” A larger income is a blessing—but without the right systems to manage it, it can quickly become a burden. That’s what the writer in Proverbs is reminding us: increase comes with responsibility. So, before your next blessing shows up, ask yourself: - If you get the raise... - If you receive the healing... - If you pay off the debt... - If you reach your savings goal... Reflection Question Do you have the tools to maintain what God gives you? When we prepare for growth, we show God that we’re ready to handle what we’ve been praying for. Prayer of the Week Dear God, I trust Your timing for increase in my life. As You prepare me for harvest, help me build the wisdom, discipline, and systems I need to sustain it. In Jesus’ name, Amen. The Correction That Saved My Life | Monday Push
Good morning, People who despise advice are asking for trouble; those who respect a command will succeed. Proverbs‬ ‭13:13‬ ‭NLT‬ ‬If you ignore criticism, you will end in poverty and disgrace; if you accept correction, you will be honored. Proverbs‬ ‭13:18‬ ‭NLT When I was younger, a group of men used to stand at the end of our road—it was like that for most of my childhood. One day, after I had started driving, they saw me pull out in front of a car. I didn’t think much of it and went home. Later, my dad said, “Hey, the men told me you pulled out in front of a car. Be careful when you’re driving so you don’t get hit.” I was irritated. Why didn’t they just tell me directly? Why go to my dad? At the time, I didn’t want to hear the advice because I thought I already knew how to drive. Since then, I’ve seen and heard of many accidents caused by people pulling out too early. I even had one myself when someone did it in front of me. Looking back, I don’t know which man told my dad, and there’s a good chance he’s no longer living. But if I could, I’d tell them thank you. That correction may have saved my life. Their willingness to speak up made me more cautious behind the wheel. Isn’t that how we treat God sometimes? He gives us correction, and we get irritated with His direction. We pout, complain, and sometimes do everything except what He told us to do. But God doesn’t give in to our attitude. Sometimes He’ll let us fall on our face because He knows experience will teach what pride refuses to hear. The good news is—it doesn’t have to be that way. These verses remind us that when we receive and apply wisdom, we’re rewarded. It doesn’t say it will be easy or comfortable. It says we’ll be honored for following instructions. That’s where many of us struggle. We want comfort more than peace and instant gratification instead of discipline. But true peace and satisfaction come after the discomfort and discipline. Reflection Question: What piece of advice do you wish you had followed the first time?
