✨ Week 4 – Reflection Questions
This week, we explore something that has been protecting you for a long time.
Your defence mechanisms.
They are not mistakes.
They are ways your mind learned to keep you safe when emotions felt too overwhelming.
Take a moment and reflect:
– When I feel emotionally uncomfortable, what do I tend to do?
(avoid, shut down, overthink, joke, please, withdraw…)
– Do I try to feel less… or to control more?
– Do I notice myself explaining things instead of feeling them?
– Do I distance myself when things get too close or too emotional?
– Do I minimise my own needs or emotions?
Go deeper:
– What emotion might I be trying to avoid?
(anger, sadness, fear, shame…)
– When did I first learn that this emotion was “too much” or not safe?
– What might have happened if I expressed it back then?
And gently ask yourself:
👉 Is this protecting me… or limiting me now?
💛 Your defences once helped you survive.
Now, you are learning when they are no longer needed.
