Faithful with the Master's Trust/ Multiplying What God Has Entrusted to You
In my study this morning Matthew 25:14-30 we know it as the 'Parable of the Talents'. However, there is so much more to this. The Lord had entrusted with each man something to be faithful and steward while that Lord or Master was away. One question that keeps coming up is "What are you doing with what I have entrusted to you?" After all, the talents belonged to the master, they were never the belonging of the servants. If this is the case then everything belongs to the Lord. Everything includes: our salvation, our time, our abilities, our spiritual gifts, our resources, our influence, our opportunities our relationships. Each one of us has been given our portion based on our ability. We must act on the Lords instructions. The characteristics between these servants was this:
The first 2 servants
1. They acted immediately.
2. They took responsibility.
3. They produced fruit
The 3rd servants actions were shaped by his perception of the master. This lead to fear and inaction instead of trust. Sin was not the problem here it was FEAR!
Here are some questions to ask yourself:
  1. What has God entrusted to me and am I investing what God has given?
  2. Am I multiplying God's kingdom or merely maintaining MY comfort?
  3. Do I work for recognition or for the Master?
Take away: This parable teaches us that God does not measure us by the size of our gifts but by our faithfulness with which we steward his gift. Its not a matter of how much we receive but whether we are investing OUR LIVES in a way that honors HIM.
