Question Regarding AB Testing

So in my Search Campaign ad groups, should I have one ad per ad group, with maximum headlines, descriptions, and extensions / callouts, and let Google determine which ones are best ? Or should I have 2-3 ads per ad group, each with it's own set of ad copy that I create, and AB test them myself? Or is there a different answer? Sorry if my question seems to scattered lol.
