Deciding where to paint
You don't have to overthink this part. 🫟🫟🫟🫟🫟🫟🫟🫟🫟🫟 🫟 🫟 Look for good natural lighting. Near a window is great! 🫟 About 3 sq. ft. of space. You don't need a lot. 🫟 Put an old towel down to protect the surface. 🫟 If you don't have an easel: 🫟 Prop up the canvas with a box behind it. 🫟 It's ok to paint flat on the table. 🫟 🫟🫟🫟🫟🫟🫟🫟🫟🫟🫟 Drop a pick of your painting space below:
The elephant in the room - AI.
For me, AI is not a taboo subject. Let’s face it, AI is here to stay, like it or not. HOWEVER, I am very cautious with HOW I use it. I DO use AI to: - Have business discussions. - Keep my thoughts and tasks organized and structured - Get feedback about my paintings - Learn how to fix a software problem that I can’t figure out. - Age a younger hand that I took a photo of. - Improve detail and resolution in reference images submitted for commissions. I DO NOT use AI to: - Create compositions - Generate painting references - Create new ideas Something that I feel is important is authenticity. When I come in here, every day, you get the real me. There is a lot of discussion in the art world about AI “ART” but I don’t think there is such a thing. AI produces images but it is not “art: by definition. What do YOU think about AI? Do you use it?

I want to hear from you.
I want your opinion. Your unsalted honest one. For those of you who are new, here is what we have done. 1. You, the Community submitted images from YOUR photos. 2. We learned composition and color contrast. 3. The community voted. 4. We are learning to paint these, one hour each week. (There are two). 5. These are FREE if you catch them live. 6. The replays are in premium OR you can just purchase all access to a single class. 7. Our Premium members get access to the entire library. Does it feel too slow? I want to give you MORE! I want to build the library faster! 🫟🫟🫟🫟🫟🫟🫟🫟🫟🫟🫟🫟🫟🫟🫟🫟 I have been considering going live more often. I have considered going live for 2 hour session. I have considered doing one painting at a time instead of two. But I want to know what YOU want. What ideas do YOU have? HOW do you want to learn? I especially want to hear from our Premium members. @Kate Bullock @Janice Peterson @Shari Walker Kearney @LM Sharron @Rebecca Martin
Finding your way around the classroom
SKOOL can be overwhelming at first so I wanted to give you a little tour around the classroom. I want you to get the MOST out of this space. I want it to have TREMENDOUS value to you. Here are a few screenshots and a little video to see how to navigate. Please please, if there is anything that is not clear or still confusing, please let me know. There are no dumb questions. I am really good at painting. I am really good at teaching but teaching ONLINE is so new to me. Let me know where the taps are. I want to make it the best it can be and I am extremely committed. And please know, I have open office hours. You can schedule a meeting with me. Here is the link. @LM Sharron please let me know if I have answered your questions properly here. This is to talk about anything you want. Your setup, acrylic vs oil, or hell, lets just have a coffee chat. Come as you are. I’m not a hair and makeup kind of chick. If you are, great. I want to know you just as you are.

🧬 No “creative” DNA?
Being “artistic” is NOT something you’re born with. I used to think creative people were just built differently. At one point, I even decided left-handed people had some secret artistic advantage… and I had been dealt the wrong hand. Literally 😂. I am VERY right-handed. 🧬🧬🧬🧬🧬🧬🧬🧬🧬 🧬 🧬 I have OCD traits 🧬 I like structure 🧬 I like organization 🧬 My house is usually neat and clean 🧬 I don’t wear mismatched clothes 🧬 Not exactly the artist stereotype 🧬 🧬🧬🧬🧬🧬🧬🧬🧬🧬 And yet… my paintings for thousands of dollars. What changed? I stopped trying to “be creative” and built a process that actually works for my brain. Step-by-step. Repeatable. Predictable. More like following a recipe than waiting for a magical unicorn to smack me with inspiration. What do you think? Do you believe you were born creative? Lets discuss this.
