I haven't posted any work lately. Here is one I just finished of a sunlit opening in the forest. I really tried to focus on the form of the large "dead" tree in the middle of the composition. Although it is slightly off center, it is the focal point of the painting. It is actually a hardwood tree that has lost all of its bark and most of its limbs, allowing light to come in for the new growth as you can see in the two saplings on the right side of the picture. The saplings leaves are capturing all that sunlight and just glowing with bright green. I tried to keep the shapes of the leaf masses general and allow my brush work to describe the forms.
