Here's something I successfully did recently, it's free and easy, just takes a little time to do all the steps.
(I learned all this from Gemini btw)
The Business Owner’s Guide to Fixing Caller ID & "Spam Likely" (2026 Edition)
If your business shows up as "Wireless Caller," "Potential Spam," or just a random string of numbers, it’s because your number isn't "vetted" in the national databases. Use this step-by-step checklist to white-list your number and get your name to show up for free.
1. The "Big Three" Central Registry (Essential)
Most major carriers (Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile) pull their spam/ID data from three specific analytics engines: Hiya, First Orion, and TNS.
- Action: Go to FreeCallerRegistry.com and submit your business info.
- Why: This is the official, free portal that pushes your "Verified" status to all three engines at once.
2. Register with the Smartphone Ecosystems
These control what appears on the screen regardless of which carrier the customer uses.
- For iPhones: Register at Apple Business Connect. Apple uses this to display your name and logo in Mail, Maps, and their new "Business Caller ID" feature.
- For Androids: Ensure your phone number is verified on your Google Business Profile. Android phones use Google’s database to identify business callers.
3. Hit the Individual Carrier "Correction" Desks
If you’ve done Step 1 and still have issues on specific networks, go directly to their "report a mistake" portals:
4. Fix the "Third-Party" Spam Apps
Millions of people use secondary screening apps. If you are marked as spam there, no carrier setting will fix it.
- Truecaller: Go to Truecaller.com/listing, search your number, and "Suggest an Edit" to set the name correctly.
- Nomorobo: Use their Contact Form and select "Report a Number" > "This is a legitimate business."
Special Section: Google Voice & VOIP Numbers
Google Voice handles Caller ID differently than traditional landlines.
- Google Voice (Free/Personal): You cannot manually set a "CNAM" (Caller Name) in settings. Your only fix is Step 1 (Free Caller Registry) and Step 2 (Google Business Profile) above.
- Google Voice for Workspace (Paid): If you have a paid tier, your Admin can set a "Business Caller ID" in the Google Admin Console under Apps > Google Workspace > Google Voice > Number management.
- The "Contact" Hack: On both iPhone and Android, if a customer saves you as a contact, that name always overrides the carrier’s caller ID. Encourage regular clients to save your number.
Critical Pro-Tips
- Propagation Time: None of this is instant. It typically takes 7–14 days for these changes to sync across every network in the country.
- A2P 10DLC (For Texting): If you use your business number to send texts (via Zapier, etc.), you must register for A2P 10DLC through your provider. In 2026, unregistered business texts are being blocked or heavily filtered by all major carriers.
