Acting over thinking is scary but the only path to growth
I’ve never been scared of dying but I’m scared of dying average. What I mean by that is that I want to live life to my fullest potential. I’m guessing a lot of people want to do the same but wanting to live and actually living are very different things. As a massive overthinker and perfectionist I can have the best intentions of achieving more, growing, becoming the best version of myself but all that wanting and ambition is living in my head. Its the ‘doing’ that will allow me actually grow and achieve more. In the last 9 months I’ve achieved 2 things that I wanted to but always thought I was not smart enough or skilled enough (juggling with 3 balls and completing a Rubik's cube). Here’s the overthinking kicking in. Its only when I was willing to try and fail that I actually accomplished these things. The juggling came from a course I took at work where the teacher encouraged us to try something that we thought was unachievable for us. Not everyone was able to succeed in juggling 3 balls in the short time we had to try but most people got further than they ever had. The Rubik’s cube achievement came when my 7 year old daughter asked if I could complete it for her so she could see all the sides the same colour. Both of these achievements came from someone else challenging me and I could of easily said “I can’t do that”, however decided to learn, practise and try. What I realised in both of these tasks was that there is a process, a certain way to achieving these. Any time I had tried in the past was a shot in the dark which allowed me to believe that I had no chance and my belief was solidified. So learning the process and consistently acting, practising, failing allowed me to finally achieve. Moving forward, I still have the perfectionist mindset, overthinking, want to procrastinate and voice telling me that my comfort zone is the best zone to be in, however I am gradually chipping away at it by proving that the comfort zone is only going to keep me where I am and this is with the belief that want to achieve more but am not quite ready.

Read this statement a couple of times and let it sink in.
‘More is lost with indecision than wrong decision’ I heard this the other day and it resonated with me enough to want to share it with everyone I know (and don’t know). As my journey continues to understand how we can unlock our full potential through controlling how and what we think about, this statement hits the spot where overthinking a situation drives indecisiveness. Our gut often knows what we should do in a situation but we convince ourselves that we need more time, what if we’re wrong etc. The only real way of finding out if the decision we make is the best one is to ‘act’ on it. It’s easier to do nothing, keep thinking, planning and working on making the ‘right’ decision but all this thinking is keeping us stuck, procrastinating, fearful of making the wrong decision. There is no wrong decision and when you realise this you start to act on things rather than worrying about what might happen if it is wrong. Save yourself time and energy and start growing by becoming more decisive, act more and think less. My overthinking and indecisiveness about starting a course or community on achieving full potential through mindset training has delayed me doing anything for 2 years. It’s now time to gather feedback on what I know no matter what the outcome, it’s the only way I’ll grow.

Basement Jaxx said it right
Where’s your head at? Answering this question will determine if you are in the future or the past, reliving memories or creating imagination. Being aware of your thoughts will allow you to know if they are helpful or not then change them if not. “But it’s difficult to know what’s going on in my head” The mind and body are connected and are constantly communicating to each other so listening to your body will give you an idea of whats going on in your mind. If you feel anxious for example, your mind will be creating future scenarios of an event you have coming up. Chances are your imagination is thinking worst case and repeating which is causing your body to react negatively. Tips to move from negative feelings: - how does your body feel? - find what is playing in your mind to create these feelings. - reframe/edit/change the thought. This can be done by consciously thinking about something else, zooming in or out of the situation to bring more or less information in or change the structure of the thought by rewinding it, changing the colour, stepping out into other person if you are seeing through your own eyes. Any of the above will help to distract the ruminating thought pattern and snap you out of the lock it has on you. You will notice your feelings change as soon as you do this, even if it’s slight. For more tips on how to optimise your feelings to match the situation you’re in so that you aren’t holding yourself back follow, like the page.

If it’s not working change the meaning
If you’re stuck or feel frustrated about something find what meaning you’re placing on it. Chances are your meaning is keeping you stuck. For two years I’ve been wanting to share my learnings of mindset with other people but have been too fearful as a I was placing a meaning of ‘failure’ on myself if I got a comment I didn’t like or a challenge I didn’t know the answer to. My view is now that everyone has a different perspective and my learnings are neither right or wrong however, they are helpful. There are areas I don’t fully know and will only understand by working through them with others however, if I now get a comment that challenges my learnings then this ‘means’ it will help me grow not fail. What meanings are you placing on things that are holding you back?

Welcome to the community
Feel free to introduce yourself and tell us what brought you to the group. I created this community to share my knowledge and learnings of how people can achieve more via training the mind. My aim is to help myself and others achieve better outcomes and results in life. I also wanted to create a safe space for discussions and sharing of ideas in how we can optimise our experiences through scope and category. The work and training undertaken here is under continuous improvement with anyone and everyone having a part to play in creating Mind Architect to ensure we live to our fullest potential.
