I Spent Years Learning Video… Then Got Paid to Ignore It
Shakey camera, average sound, no lighting and at least 3 mistakes! Imagine, after many moons creating pro video I get paid to not to! The first draft wasn't skakey enough, sounded too professional and worked 'too perfectly' So - I messed up .... and they loved it! How does that actually work? Well the brand explained how this style of ad just doesn't look like an ad and gives the best returns! Whilst I always want to deliver what the brand wants, I'm still not 100% sure that I haven't gone down a road I won't come back from! Thoughts?

Why is speaking on camera so scarey!
There are many reasons why cameras scare even the most seasoned presenters, stirring up primal, uncanny, dark, uncomfortable emotions. But the main reason this happens is generally not known. So, in a traditional situation you can see audience reactions. Not so with a camera, which is totally inanimate. Similar to the death stare of a hungry beast moments before it figures out how its going to devour you! And there is the reason. Presenting to camera is one of those rare occasions where your primal instinct to run like hell is conjured up the very moment you first make eye contact with it! This made a lot of sense when I first discovered it, but how do you overcome it? What techniques do you use? More soon where I'll share the techniques I used to overcome and finally conquer this primal fear. Mike.
