The amazing thing is sometimes when u troll thru old work either on purpose or due to boredom; you may,as a pig digging for truffles, find a treasure. I found this image in a group of shots taken on the train Venice to Trieste. Ordinary color shot that cried out for black and white. The composition is perfect: a rare white truffle!

I know im old and styles come into fashion and fade. Old standards no longer hold true I have noticed that photos by and large have become 10-20% darker. Not to accentuate the light but darker overall. Maybe the work ive seen by contemporary shooters have no idea on how to use the brightness and contrast sliders. Now dont get me wrong, murky and mushy can be a creative choice but not in every case. I believe its laziness and thoughtlessness. Snd not just on these skool sights but in my current issue of Black and White magazine. The images for the most part lack crispness detail and are simply overwhelmingly mediocre. Tell me what you think. Am i simply being out of step with current style or am i closer to being right? I really wanna know

My real skill is being able to crawl between the psychological legs of my subjects to discover who they really are!
