📸 Welcome to Photography & OM System Hub! Start Here 👇
Hello everyone, and welcome to our photography sanctuary! I created this space to be a—no noise, no lost images, just a calm, organized place for us to learn, share, and improve our photography together. Whether you shoot with the latest camera or are just starting out, this is your home. 🚀 How to get started (Action Required!) To make this community valuable, we need everyone to participate. Here is your first assignment: 1. Introduce Yourself: Go to the 👋 Welcome & Intros category and tell us your name, what camera you shoot with, and what you want to learn most. 2. Post a Photo: Go to 🖼️ Image Showcase and share one photo you are proud of. 3. Ask for Help: Go to 💡 Critique & Feedback and share a photo you want to improve, or go to 🖥️ Post-Processing if you have a Lightroom/Photoshop question. 📜 Community Guidelines To keep this place valuable, please abide by these rules: - Be Constructive: When giving critique, explain why you think something could be improved (e.g., "The composition feels a bit tight on the right side"). - Give Feedback to Get Feedback: Don't just post; comment on other people's photos, too! - Stay Relevant: Please post in the correct category so others can find your content later. [Insert a warm, inviting image or a short 1-minute welcome video here] I am so excited to see your work and grow with you. See you in the comments! Larry Kurfis

What is the goal of Photo Challenge?
My view is to get members in the "field" and take new photos to make new photos. Field could be your table depending on what the challenge is. To me it is a learning experience not searching your photo library to locate a photo(s) that meet the challenge. Yes I recently "dumpster diving" to meet a challenge. Although I learned that it reminded natural framing of a subject is a powerful composition technique. Usually, for me, it's a serendipity experience. What is your view?

Use a wide Aperture...
I've often commented, more is a Rant, that many teach "use a wide Aperture to blur the background" it's not false but only one third of the full truth. 1. Aperture 2. Lens Focal length 3. Distance With your variable focus length lens, a telephoto, focus on something say 30 feet away. Use your shortest focal length lens, widest Aperture. Take a photo. Without moving use a lounger focal length, focus on the same target. Take another picture. What do the photos tell you? Watch this video https://youtube.com/shorts/9AbC6gb2GSU?si=HOQh8IiUOhBQJUV4
