Important: Update About Find a Notary Inquiry Feature Protecting you against suspicious activity on the platform.
Hi Christopher,We are aware of reports that some Find a Notary® subscribers have received suspicious business inquiries through the platform. These messages were sent through the “Send a Message” email feature and may involve spam-like, fraudulent, or phishing-related activity.
Protecting our subscribers and maintaining the integrity of FindaNotary.com is a top priority for the National Notary Association. As a precaution, we have temporarily disabled the messaging feature while we review the activity and work on enhancements to limit misuse of the system. We understand the concern this may cause and apologize for any inconvenience or uncertainty these messages have created.
How to Protect Yourself
Do not click any link provided by a requester from Find a Notary unless you know it’s safe. As a reminder, we encourage all Notaries to use caution when responding to inquiries, particularly those that:
- Ask you to join an unfamiliar Zoom or video meeting
- Include unsolicited links within a text or email inquiry message
- Include attachments from unknown sources
- Refuse to provide basic contact information, such as a phone number
- Contain vague or generic notarization requests with little supporting detail
- Create a sense of urgency or pressure to act quickly
If an inquiry appears suspicious, do not continue the conversation or click links in any follow-up emails or text messages.
Next Steps
Please report suspicious inquiries to our support team immediately using our contact us form, so that we can continue to identify patterns and take appropriate steps to reduce misuse of the platform. We will continue to monitor this issue and will restore the “Send a Message” feature once appropriate safeguards are in place. We will share updates as the enhancements are rolled out.
Thank you for your partnership and your continued trust in the National Notary Association.
Sincerely,
Thomas Hayden
Chief Marketing Officer, National Notary Association
