Why The Law of Attraction Does Work For Some People
Devaluing people's desires
This is the opposite of saying – ‘I know what you want to achieve and I find it viable.’
If you find yourself devaluing something that you sincerely want to achieve, you shoot yourself in the foot. Your subconscious mind does not understand contradictions. That’s why when it comes to general principles, it will never be ‘I don’t want it for them, but I only want it for myself’. If you’d like to become an actor, for instance, but you hate famous actors, branding them sell-outs or worse, you will never attain their level of success.
To identify the limitation, ask yourself: how and why do I hate the game? Hating the game always makes you lose before you even start.
Not an equal choice
This is about putting people and things on a pedestal, which creates undue resistance.
If an option of having or doing something is not an equal choice compared to other options available to you, you need to ask yourself why that is. Coveting too much is often a sign of a conflict in our psyche, which can be objectively characterized as a lifestyle mismatch. Therefore, it is highly likely that there is a part of you that would feel ashamed if the things you constantly talk about but never act upon became your day-to-day reality.
To identify the limitation, you need to address this issue and consciously design your life so that the objects of your desires become integral to it.
Accepting other people’s meaning and disregarding your own
Your meaning creates your reaction, and your reaction creates your reality. If you allow other people’s meanings to rule over you, you will not be able to tell your own story and play the central character in it.
The solution is to appreciate your own point of view and reject the labels as an attempt to assert dominance by others.
Disregarding the beauty of certain activities
My personal pet peeve has always been people who have no love for cinema attempting to write screenplays. What they don’t realize is that the appreciation for beauty is a crucial step, without which success is not possible. The objective of decent filmmakers is to make their movies look cool. And you can’t make it look cool if you don’t possess a certain sensibility that could inspire you.
The same goes for any other non-creative discipline. Disregarding the beauty of certain activities leads to skipping the process. Then you get frustrated, unmotivated or do it only for the money, which is another type of frustration.
If this is your limitation, you will see in your professional experience only people who are average. If there is a type of coolness you prevent yourself from expressing, ask yourself why that is the case.
Competing fantasy (surrendering control)
The most common fantasy in which people surrender their control is waiting for a savior, but there is more, such as ‘that is fate’ attitude or expressing the odd enjoyment of being controlled by proxy.
Read these statements:
1. My identity is defined by the states of losing control
2. Other people's desires are more valid than mine.
If you agreed with at least one of them, you are most likely limited by a fantasy that disempowers you. Examine your role in it and work towards stepping out of it. Always follow the true wishes of your spirit, which defies these kinds of fantasies.
Rejecting the follow-up
Imagine a man living in a house that is always in a mess. What does this tell you? He does not want to be visited. Otherwise, he would clear the clutter. Maybe he hates people, maybe not; we don’t know that.
The same happens with those who start a business, but refuse to play to win. They unconsciously refuse to make themselves ready for other opportunities which owning a healthy company could open for them.
Ultimately, assuming responsibility leads to freedom. If you want to be free, decide who you want to take with you into that new reality.
