Occupation vs vocation

Heard something today that got me thinking. What’s the difference between occupation and vocation for you?

Vocation used to mean so much more. It was a time honored tradition of skills passed down from generation to generation. It was time an apprentice spent with a master and was ultimately a calling.

Occupation by the root definition is something that occupies your time. Far less skill and far less motivation or calling is required for an occupation.

So how do you feed your vocation when it’s no longer your occupation?
