𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹. 𝗧𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺.
I spent so long watching people online trying to be palatable… trying to say things that nobody could possibly disagree with… softening every edge… qualifying every statement… adding that little but of course everyone's journey is different disclaimer onto the end of everything just in case… just in case… just in case…pfffttt
And their content is just… there… isn't it… inoffensive… forgettable… beigy af… existing quietly in the middle where nothing really lands and nobody really feels anything…
And then I watch someone else open their mouth and say something that makes half the room go YES FINALLY and the other half go absolutely not and I think… THAT person… that person is going somewhere…
Because here's the thing that changed everything for me when I actually let it sink in…
𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗠𝗘𝗚𝗡𝗘𝗧𝗜𝗖 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲. Totes cannot. And honestly… why the fck would you wanna be…
Because magnetism doesn't work like that does it… magnets attract AND repel… that is literally the whole point of them… the repelling isn't the failure… the repelling is what makes the attracting so powerful… and if you're not repelling anyone… you're probably not attracting anyone either… you're just… floating there… neutral… meh…n that sucks…
When someone unfollows you because you said something real… that is not a bad day… that is the filter doing exactly what it's supposed to do…
𝗜'𝗺 𝘃𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗻. I'm sweary. I live in Bali with a rescue dog and a family of toads under my kitchen sink. I have very strong opinions about integrity and honesty and what it actually means to stand for something… and I share them… loudly… consistently… without the disclaimer on the end…
Not everyone likes that. And honestly… good. 😂
Because the ones who do… they're MY people… they find me fast and they stay and they don't need convincing because they already feel it before I've even finished the sentence…
You don't need more followers. You need the RIGHT damn ones. And the only way to get the right ones is to stop contorting yourself trying to appeal to all of them FFS…
