JANUARY 2026 Fabric & Community Updates (with Recording)
HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone!! I hope you all had a wonderful break. We are back with a bang already with the recording from our call today reviewing the latest Product and Community updates.
πŸ‘‹ Welcome to the fifth Cross-Community Monthly Update! Each month, I'll be populating this post, with updates from all the Communities/ Channels I manage, PLUS updates from the Fabric Product Team from the recent December 2025 Product Updates - new features.
I hear from lots of people that it's difficult to keep up-to-date with Fabric and all the constant changes, so hopefully this will serve as a useful resource for tracking what's changing, and what's important. As always, your feedback is very welcome!
🟩 Learn Microsoft Fabric Community Updates
  • Well done to everyone that passed their DP-600 or DP-700 exam this month - there are far too many of you to call out individuals - but if you passed, well done! A great way to round off the year.
  • What to expect in 2026? I'll continue to support and grow the free community in 2026 - doing my best to answer questions and provide support (for free), to as many people as I have the time to support! Thanks for being a part of it and contributing in 2025.
🟦 Fabric Dojo Community Updates for this month
  • We developed TWO real-world projects in the Dojo in Q4 2025, showcasing two approaches to developing a Fabric Data Platform (for a real-world client).
  • What to expect in 2026? We will continue to develop and maintain the most comprehensive Fabric Data Engineering education available.
  • We'll be welcoming @Rui Carvalho - he's a Data Engineer who spends a lot of his time optimizing Spark jobs, and he's an awesome teacher. He'll be delivering a series of tutorials to take your Spark skills to the next-level.
  • We also have Microsoft MVP @Alexandru Badiu delivering a series on User Data Functions & Translytical Taskflows in Fabric - that is something you won't want to miss, as TTFs is changing how companies are using Fabric/ Power BI in a considerable way (building app-like experiences, where the user can write data back to a Fabric SQL database).
  • I'll be delivering new content focusing on AI-powered workflows for Fabric Data Engineers - the time is right - it's changing how we work in quite big ways, so let's get on top of it and learn how it can help us build better engineering solutions in Fabric.
🧠 A third Fabric-related Skool community for 2026? πŸ‘€
  • Keep your eyes peeled for some BIG announcements coming in the next week or so.
Fabric Product Updates (see video for my thoughts on the following features/ updates!)
This month, there was no December monthly update blog, but there were quite a few individual announcements released in the month of December. I've linked to some of the ones that were interesting to me (in order of level of interest):
Over to you!
  • Do you have any goals / ambitions for the year that you want to share with the community - let's hear them!
Happy new year!
