Hello everyone! Are you well?
I'd just like to air a couple of thoughts that spoke to me in the FTM event this week. What do you think?
From Ben: people prefer to work with people who they like, or to whom they feel a connection.
I recently learned that people in my physical or geographical community are hesitant, even straight up afraid, to work with me because I'm a foreigner, and female besides. These are just extra barriers. Ben's comments have given me lots to think about.
Ken's comments in this event and elsewhere about tailoring your mixes to the client's preferences.
I love this. I've thought about it lots because contextualization is a pillar in my work. Where is your line though? Are you willing to make choices and decisions you feel are "poor quality" but creates the sound the client wants and still put your name on it?
To end, I'll just note that almost everything I know about audio engineering I learned in this school, from this community, mostly from the FTM events. I've got a long way to go, but I'm grateful for where I'm at now.
