I'm Clif Duncan...
A lot of you know me but there are so many new folks here now and with the big move of the Membership platform and it's new name I thought I might reintroduce myself...
I am an Audio Engineer and Author in my fifties working towards making a second career, running my own company, remastering music & writing.
I am learning how to confidently and effectively produce, mix and master multi-track music on the computer using the Studio One Pro 7 DAW.
I am in the "Membership Club" at Mastering.com and I hope, soon join their "The Reverse Engineer" audio course.
Looking back now, I have spent 38 years, professionally in various realms of customer service. I was a Lead and Trainer at the Astronaut training facilities here in Houston, more precisely, working at the NASA Visitor Center at The Johnson Space Center
for The Manned Spaceflight Education Foundation for almost a decade, I taught Public Speaking to Tour Guides and was ultimately second in command in the Management team there.
I have recently retired from a 20 year long career as a City Library Clerk in the Circulation Department at the Public Library in Friendswood Texas.
I have spent much of my free time recently, redefining who I am, not just professionally but spiritually. Like never before, I feel in touch with the god-fire energy of the soul, connected to all things and my life is truly and powerfully my own. I am emboldenly and daily, grateful for my connection to the Universe ...to God.
I am happily divorced, but actively seeking my someone, maybe that soul-mate to share soul romance and the rest of a lifetime together with in the now and the future ahead of us.
I have a 21 year old daughter, who is now attending college in Austin, Texas at St. Edwards University.
I am currently writing a non-fiction book about manifesting the here and now and the better futures we all deserve.
Connecting the dreams of the past to those of today, I studied Audio Engineering in Community College here, in the Houston area back in the 1990's. The goal for me in the day was to work in the Music Business.
Back then there were big mixing consoles, tape machines, microphones, even early Pro Tools (DAW) and hours and hours of classes on sound reinforcement and recording techniques. I did a few semesters of Music Business classes as well.
In the quest for all things Audio in the day, I even worked locally as a Roadie for a local sound company for a short while. Long enough to realize that wasn’t what I wanted to do and be. I didn’t want to be the equipment mover, but rather the Engineer designing the sound.
I have two unpublished New Age / Spa Albums that I composed and recorded years ago that really need to see the light of day and perhaps be heard by the world. Because of my involvement here I can say that they are in the digital world of my computer now.
I have done this and that music project, with like-minded friends over the years and have endeavored to keep my engineering chops up by editing music and remastering songs, on my PC with Steinberg's Wave-Lab (two channel DAW) for about a decade and a half. Honestly, I think I am really quite good at it and I really want to do this and a whole lot more, professionally for the rest of my life.
Because of my being around all these creative friends I have made here at Mastering.com I am proud to say that I have 14 new pieces of music composed just this last year. These are my first in probably 35 years.
With a smile on my face, I will tell you the name of my Audio Engineering company. It's called Definitive Enlightenment Remasters And Media. It may add up a lot of baby steps, to the future but, I even have a Professional Facebook page for it and business cards. So obviously well on my way to fulfilling some lifelong dreams...
Hopefully all that gives a nice look at who I am and who I continue to evolve into as you meet me now.
