Freaking flabbergasted!
Bruh... bruh... SLL owes me SEVERAL refunds! If y'all aren't signed up for their email list, what are you doing with your life? These sales are INSANE!!! I think I got Flexverb in a bundle for like $50. That mug is on sale now for $15! Channel Strip 2, their 9000 series console emulation... $19! The compressor on that mug is so dang strong, it took me like 30 minutes to figure out why one of the teacks I had routed to the aux was so quiet no matter how much I turned it up in my summing channel. They have some dope Harrison plugins on sale, too. Like the Harrison Mastering EQ is freaking $10! This is Harrison we're talking about... But hey... if you snooze, you lose! And you may want to get them from Plugin Boutique. With every purchase you know you get a freebie. That Universal Audio Galaxy Tape Echo delay is the most lush delay I've ever heard. It's have your vocals and guitars lush like clear green resort ocean water. Then there's also a Moogfooger or something like that. It's a very nice analog emulation phaser. You can even toggle between an aux send window. I don't even know what to do with that part. I'll have to read the user manual. Both those mugs are certified legit.

mostly i wanted the lmc listen mic compressor they just did, but it was in a $70 bundle. I don't need another compressor that bad. so, the channelstrip2 compressor you find to be super strong? I'll have to try that in place. That one came in a bundle where with what I needed at the time so I haven't specifically investigated it yet. on the boutique freebies.. you know they offered steinberg backbone for like a week? I'm still bitter I missed that one.
Open or Closed
Ok time for next query. Closed, open and ( for me unknown until today ) half-open back. Talking about Studio (HP) headphones. I have always used closed back HPs. But recently one of my friends told me that U do have to use open back to hear the stereo information. I do not use headphones to hear that, I do use headphones to isolate what in a track i don't like (over and over on repeat). But it maybe sounds true for anyone only using HPs mixing, mastering. So whats your take on this topic, open or closed ? and for that matter on, in or over ?( for me the only alternative is over) and now to the reason for this post. I have some very comfortable AKGs, so comfortable that I forget to take the off when fetching coffee, making it time to switch. What is your favorit HPs model and brand? Best Regards P-G

open and closed is an accurate description of how the basic constructions feel and sound. open back does really sound more open... and therefore maybe you can pick up on some stereo a bit better. and also over is better. dunno what you mean by (HP) though. Studio (HeadPhone) headphones? HighPerformance? the best model I have rn are some beat up dt990 open backs. they might be amazing with the right headphone amp but I find them to just be "really good." I think what you're looking for is "perfect," and I haven't heard it yet. the beherdynamics can be found on sale for a much more attainable price than say, ollos or something, but it's like engine oil. Buy the best you can afford; it will perform better and probably save you some trouble along the way. Also in that you don't want to use too much or too little. Also they get gross and ineffective if you use them too long. but now im just torturing the metaphor.
gainstaging a synth irl: noise or clipping, my choice
I have an old original uno synth that i'd like to play around with but I can't get a decent signal from it. Cabling types are my enemy here, I think, maybe. The uno's out is 1/8 phones like it thinks its a walkman. I want it to go through a kaoss fx module, which uses rca. sigh. Straight into the yamaha mixer (via 1/4") and its too quiet. no problem, I think, crank the gain. Hum galore. ok, there's a bbe 282 maximizer available, maybe use that (1/4" patch i/o), then to the mixer (same 1/4" in). nooo.. now I can turn off the gain but I get clipping. eew. no. it has no volume or gain to adjust. the clipping sounds digital too, which doesn't make sense. I now just tried the second to last option. a behringer fx 2000; its got a compressor-maximizer preset. this is the best i've gotten but the noise is probably only reduced by a third this way. The very last option is an old art tube pre. I don't like this option because its... busy already. Somebody please tell me using a headphone amp is the dumbest thing in the world before I try it;p All this should be signal level but I'm getting noise going from phones to anything. I even have an 1/8" phones to xlr to go straight to the yamaha, eliminating any rca in the path. This isn't much better either. Any thoughts? Options, to review: Uno Synth, 1/8 out behringer fx2000 multi fx, 1/4 and xlr i/o bbe 282iq, 1/4 i/o korg kaoss fx, rca i/o art dps II preamp, 1/4 and xlr yamaha 12xu, xlr, 1/4, rca

@Henrik Strassner in all cases, i'm referencing audio when i refer to 'signal', 'route' or 'path'.

How are you managing the connection of your USB and TB gear?
With everything now being TB or USB how are you all managing the connection for all of this equipment? I want to clean up and streamline my connections but not sure how I will go about it just yet. I have USB for 4 keyboards/sound module, for 8 hard drives, flash drives,, MPC, webcam, charging for my phone, ect. I have Thunderbolt for my UA Apollo, DAC, UA satellite, ect. Point is that I have so many connections that I have to wonder how are other people managing.

I have a 1394 firewire roland sound module i really, really wish i could use with usb-c

@Paul Jones those are two highly compatible interfaces ; nothing special required other than a cable. usb-c, on the other hand, can support being converted to firewire if it also supports thunderbolt...I think? I have never seen a proper adaptor. the closest that exists, that im aware of, is usb-c -> pci riser-> firewire card. fascinating, but i was hoping to use it without a full size card and its requisite power supply dangling off of my laptop, lol
