What are some habits and practices that help keep you moving forward with your mix? I can sometimes find myself over-processing or obsessing over an isolated detail, forgetting about the context or role that that sound was playing and then figure out the mistake I made later on during mixing. For example, some of the EQ curves I make can start looking pretty funky and complex and sometimes I’m not sure if I was overthinking it. Sure, often times it helps when you use high quality samples so you don’t have to Frankenstein the heck out of it, so that could be a pretty big factor to consider. What do you think?
