I’ve been noticing something while visiting gardens in a much warmer climate — how clearly the structure shows when all the layers are visible.
Ground covers. Herbaceous plants. Shrubs. Canopy.
So here’s this week’s question:
If you step back and look at your yard right now, which layer feels missing — or underdeveloped?
Is it groundcover? Evergreen structure? Shrubs? Something else?
I'm excited to start talking about flower gardens. Next week we’ll start turning this into a simple layered template you can actually sketch into your yard.
For now, just notice.
