I don't think I've ever seen a car parked at the top when there has been snow on the ground. Maybe someone got lost? Looks like it's some kind of marketing stunt? Now they're stuck. Someone is snapping pics.

Now that 395 bypasses Olancha, is it destined to become another Inyo county ghost town? Other than the Jerky store and the Mobil station, there was never much there to begin with. I remember the old diner, but that closed years ago. Back in the 00s, the Mobil station used to be my first stop for gas when making the drive north.

Hi! Eagle is looking pretty rough and the forecast isn’t doing us any favors. Does anyone have any insight on whether or not it will open on the 19th? We plan on going then, but if eagle isn’t open, I’d rather wait until January. We have 3 kids that can ski fairly well (ages 7, 10, 11), so we will only use chair 15 for access, but typically stay on that side of the mountain. Guessing 9 won’t open in these conditions. Thoughts?

Better than expected. Saturday was typical firm-ish groomers that softened through the day. On Sunday, the wind picked up -- guessing from the SW? My sense of direction on the hill is always off a bit -- and there were some fun pockets of fluff to be found at the top of Broadway and around the corner on Rusty's. I was up with my little one so we stuck to the lower mountain, mostly just lapping 1 & 2, but it was fun watching her look for windblown snow from the chair and saying, "I see it! Lets ski over there!" And props to Mountain Ops, they're doing a great job with what they've had to work with this season. Cheers 🤙🏽

I was lucky enough to be here on opening day -- my first opening day at Mammoth! As @Steve Taylor said, it was low tide in some areas but the coverage was far better than I expected. I was surprised to see the face of Chair 3 was open with some nice packed powder. Too bad they couldn't open the top. They had the line ropes ready on Chair 23 but once the snow started, visibility was not good up top. Couple of my [poor] pictures from the day. It snowed non-stop the entire time I was there. Friday is going to be epic!
