➡ MY NICHE STORY Short version – back in the day, I was running out of $ and struggling to find my career: - I had graduated college (go Lehigh!), but wasn't working in the field. 🚷 - I loved teaching and video, but wasn't working in the field. 🚷 - I did an international off-road adventure race (hello Camel Trophy), but wasn't working in the field. 🚷 Basically, I was broke and didn't know my path. I didn't think there was a "career" that could put all these together. 🤲 I didn't think I could make it doing something with the things I loved doing. ❤️ ___ ➡ PERSONAL UNLOCK In a classic "final hour" push, I went for being bold and making something unique to my background and my niche, focusing on: - "creating what only you can" My thinking was that there were: 1. MANY people in the education field 2. Fewer people in the education + video field 3. Much fewer (only 20 out of over 1 million in my year) in Camel Trophy 4. Much much fewer (only ~14) Land Rover professional driving instructors 5. Much much much fewer who combined all of these with video/television experience This set me free. 🤩 ___ ➡ TURN-AROUND So I used my own unique background and experiences to create my own dream television show customized to #5 above and pitched it to Jeep as a national sponsor. The pitch was that if they wanted a TV show that combined all of these elements, there was likely only one choice because I was basically the only person who had all of those elements (because I created it that way LOL). It worked! I end up creating, pitching, selling, hosting, and producing a nationally broadcast (hello DiSH network!) television show on . 📡 We were officially sponsored by Jeep and some of the best off-road driving and adventure gear, from Goodyear to Garmin to Coleman to Balance bar... all in our 1st season... we even landed Sirius Radio's launch sponsorship (this was back in the day LOL). 📺 It launched my career for the next 20 years being a Precision Driver (car commercials), Lead Instructor (Land Rover), and my video production company (THISLEARNING®).
