Don't Sweat the Small Stuff ... reading stuff with Mila 30/100
📖 Book Don't Sweat the Small Stuff … and It's All Small Stuff by Richard Carlson, PhD. Synopsis: Simple ways to keep little things from taking over your life. The book consists of 100 short articles -- we'll go through them week by week. This week’s # 30: Choose Your Battles Wisely Here's what you need to do: 1. Read it yourself, take time to reflect on it and make notes. 2. Join the live reading on Wednesday. We'll read and listen to the article together, line by line. 3. Share your thoughts. Keep your answer under 4 minutes. Be clear, and focus on expressing your ideas about the topic to practice real English speaking. No debates, just sharing thoughts. ***** "Choose your battles wisely" is a popular phrase in parenting but is equally important in living a contented life. It suggests that life is filled with opportunities to choose between making a big deal out of something or simply letting it go, realizing it doesn't really matter. If you choose your battles wisely, you'll be far more effective in winning those that are truly important. Certainly there will be times when you will want or need to argue, confront, or even fight for something you believe in. Many people, however, argue, confront, and fight over practically anything, turning their lives into a series of battles over relatively "small stuff." There is so much frustration in living this type of life that you lose track of what is truly relevant. The tiniest disagreement or glitch in your plans can be made into a big deal if your goal (conscious or unconscious) is to have everything work out in your favor. In my book, this is nothing more than a prescription for unhappiness and frustration. The truth is, life is rarely exactly the way we want it to be, and other people often don't act as we would like them to. Moment to moment, there are aspects of life that we like and others that we don't. There are always going to be people who disagree with you, people who do things differently, and things that don't work out. If you fight against this principle of life, you'll spend most of your life fighting battles.

Interesting "interested"...
In my digging into everyday English I stumbled across two seemingly similar patterns" be interested to do" and "be interested in doing". Anyone who spends their time with @Shane Peterson and his DDMs would not bat an eye hearing these. However, can you tell which sentence feels natural... and which doesn't: 1.1 I was interested to see the new phone models at the store. 1.2 I was interested to buy a new phone. 2.1 Were you interested to read about the report? 2.2 Were you interested to write the report? 3.1 I was interested in observing how the app worked on my phone. 3.2 I was interested to observe how the app worked on my phone. 4.1 She was interested to attend the meeting. 4.2 She was interested in attending the meeting. Pick which feels right and why? Have fun!
