Different ways of posing a yes / no question
So it occurs to me there are different ways to ask for confirmation. For example I might day “ were you a soldier before “ or I could say “ you were a soldier before, right?” They have a slightly different nuance. How should we incorporate this into our 123 matrix?
Confirmation question (like English “…right?”)
أنتَ كنتَ جنديًا من قبل، أليس كذلك؟
You were a soldier before, right?
Or more informal:
كنتَ جندي قبل… صح؟
You were a soldier before… right?
3 — Negation
لم تكن جنديًا من قبل.
You weren’t a soldier before
