I’ve been thinking about habits lately. Especially the ones we want to let go of.
One thing that has helped me more than expected is something very simple: writing things down.
Since the end of 2022, I’ve been keeping a journal. Not in a strict or “perfect” way. Just consistently.
At first, it was mainly about gratitude. Things that went well. Moments I appreciated. Over time, I adjusted it.
Now I also write down the things that didn’t go well. Thoughts that felt off. Situations I didn’t handle the way I wanted.
Not to judge, just to make them visible.
There’s something about putting it on paper, by hand, with a good pen…It slows things down.
Makes it more real.
And every now and then, I go back and read old entries. 2, 3, sometimes 4 years ago. It’s interesting to see: What mattered back then. What felt big. What changed, and what didn’t.
For me, it became less about “tracking”and more about understanding patterns. And maybe that’s where change actually starts.
Curious - does anyone else do something similar?
