Iran (officially the Imperial State of Iran, In Iranian: کشور شاهنشاهی ایران, Keshvar-e Shāhanshāhi-e Irān) is a country in West Asia. It borders Babylonia to the west, Anatolia and Armenia to the northwest, the Caspian Sea to the north with Russia at the opposite end, Turkmenistan to the northeast, Afghanistan to the east, Pakistan to the southeast, and the Persian Gulf to the south and southwest with Arabia and the other Arab states at the opposite end. Iran has a population of 90+ million, it ranks 17th worldwide in both geographic size and population, and is the 6th largest country in Asia, it is divided into five regions with 31 provinces. Tehran is the capital, the largest city and financial center of the country. ______________________ HISTORY: Home to one of the oldest continuous main civilizations, most of Iran was first united as a nation by the Iranian Sintashta civilization during the semi-factual and semi-mythic Keyānid Dynasty c. 2200 BC whose legacy traces have stayed intact and prevalent in the Native Iranian Folklore today which is mentioned in the Iranian National Epic Book of Lords known as "the Shāhnāmeh", this is all prior to the Iranians (i.e. Aryans) whom are an Indo-European people had migrated into the Iranian Plateau which was initially inhabited by the indeginous Elamite Civilization that eventually was taken over and dominated by the new arriving Iranians (i.e. Aryans) who were Mithraic worshippers of the Sun (This is prior to becoming Zoroastrians later in time) then the Iranian civilization split into two subset states with the Median Territory in the North and the Persian Territory in the South Iran later re-unified and reached it's territorial height in the 6th century BC, when Cyrus the Great founded the Achaemenid Dynasty and established the famous Iranian Empire. Then Alexander of Macedonia conquered the Iranian Empire in the 4th century BC. An Iranian rebellion led by the Arsacid Dynasty in the 3rd century BC established another Iranian Empire, which later liberated the country. In the 3rd century AD the Arsacids were succeeded by the Sassanid Dynasty of Iran that became a new Iranian Empire, which oversaw a golden age in the history of the Iranian civilization. During this period Classic Ancient Iran saw some of the earliest developments in writing, agriculture, urbanization, religion and administration.
