Tough sparring
Recently I had a really tough spar with a multi national champion. This is what I learnt 1. Establish your jab What I learnt , as soon as I let him establish his jab before mine I gave him the opportunities to take advantages. 2. Invest in the body early Getting hit with body shots earl will slow anyone right down 3. 3S AND 4S this is amateurs single shots all the time wont win you the round throw 3s and 4s and remember to be ready for the second phase
Finals of strandja are today
Top fights so far My list so far Lorenzo vs Salimov 55kg Great for 2 phases Salim vs Artur (60kg) Great Combos and exits Salim vs ruslan (60kg) High levels of activity u need in amateurs Marcus Luther vs yogit (65kg) Pressure composure and shot selection Lavant (70kg) one my favourite fighters to watch Will Hewitt vs Owain Harris (60kg) How to terminate an exchange and interrupt an opponents combinations
Why sparring with pros isn't all its cracked up to be
So last weekend I sparred 10 rounds with a pro. And I thought this was good work , I was tactical and established my jab. Felt great. Last night I sparred a young hungry Irish amateur. This kid gave me a wake up call. He was quick and always ready for the second phase and would catch me feeling safe after combinations. In this amateur game , stay alert and stay busy - because its much faster paced! Be ready for that second phase. Yes establish your jab , defend after. But dont switch off be ready for at any moment the second phase to come because if you boxing someone good it will!
