Heelwork Practice

When I started my heelwork training with the pup I used food and toy lure in hand and then slowly going higher and higher. Eventually I’m planing to fade behind his head and to the side. Also working on hand to the side of his head separately so he understands to keep his head up. Is it ok to keep going like that because I seem to confuse him more with backwards lure etc?

I know I need to work on keeping him more straight and also forging but I’m pretty happy considering it’s our 5th session. I also keep them super short because he has a Luxating patella.
