People chase submissions.
The old heads chase position.
And the longer I train, the more I think Jiu-Jitsu has something in common with the way the universe works.
In quantum physics, tiny changes at the smallest level can completely change what happens next. The foundation determine the outcome. You don’t have to force reality you change the conditions, and reality unfolds differently.
Jiu-Jitsu feels the same way.
A two-inch hip escape.
A slight angle change.
One grip exchanged for another.
A shoulder moved just enough to break structure.
Nothing dramatic.
But suddenly the entire roll is different.
The sweep appears.
The pass opens.
The choke that didn’t exist five seconds ago is suddenly there.
Most people think the finish is the magic.
It isn’t.
The position is.
A submission isn’t something you create out of nowhere. It’s something the position eventually reveals.
That’s true off the mats too.
People want to change their whole life overnight. But maybe life works more like Jiu-Jitsu.
Change your position.
Change the room you’re in.
Change who you’re around.
Change what you consume.
Change your perspective.
Change your habits.
You don’t always need more force.
Sometimes you just need a better angle.
Flow isn’t about overpowering the universe.
It’s about finding where the current is already moving… and learning to move with it.
Every roll teaches the same lesson.
Position before pressure.
Connection before chaos.
Presence before panic.
Because once you’re in the right place…
Everything else starts showing up on its own.
Keep chasing better positions in Jiu-Jitsu and in life.
The submissions will take care of themselves.
