One thing Jiu-Jitsu has taught me over the years is thisā¦
Ego will destroy your progress faster than any opponent ever will.
Your ego tells you:
āI shouldnāt lose.ā
āI shouldnāt get tapped.ā
āI should already be better than this.ā
But the truth isā¦
Growth only happens when the ego dies.
And part of killing your ego is being able to celebrate other peopleās success without insecurity.
When my friends level upā¦
When my teammates winā¦
When someone shares in sightā¦
I will always celebrate them.
I donāt care if we came up together.
I donāt care if youāve surpassed me.
I donāt care where Iām training.
If youāre my people, Iām in your corner. Always.
Because thatās what real teammates do.
Recently I put some positive energy out there⦠and got a negative response back. Multiple occasions.
At first I thought about it.
Sat with it.
Then I realized something simple.
F*** Them,
I will never dim my light for someone elseās darkness or ego.
Not in Jiu-Jitsu.
Not in life.
If encouragement bothers someoneā¦
that says more about their mindset than it ever will about mine.
So hereās where I stand:
I will celebrate my friends.
I will encourage people.
I will lift people up.
I will Speak Up and Speak Life!
no matter where this journey takes meā¦
I will stay authentic.
Even if it costs me.
Because positivity, encouragement, and loyalty to your people will always matter more than protecting your ego.
If youāre part of this community, I hope you do the same.
Lift people up. Celebrate wins. Kill your ego.
And never let someone convince you to shrink your light.
š„ Keep rolling. Keep growing.
