Birelli´s multiinstrumentalism
this guy plays the guitar like no one else, we all already know that. then he plays the bass part...ok some people r just gifted...but violin???? https://www.google.com/search?q=birelli+minor+swing+dc+minor+swing&client=opera&hs=G3C&sca_esv=b7bcfe901621b6ba&sxsrf=ANbL-n4sjHREWaL2rFHVidkmZOpd2yiykA%3A1780817583875&ei=rx4las-KNeKrxc8Ph8OB8Qs&biw=1866&bih=955&ved=0ahUKEwiPnvy7zvSUAxXiVfEDHYdhIL4Q4dUDCBA&uact=5&oq=birelli+minor+swing+dc+minor+swing&gs_lp=Egxnd3Mtd2l6LXNlcnAiImJpcmVsbGkgbWlub3Igc3dpbmcgZGMgbWlub3Igc3dpbmcyBxAhGAoYoAEyBxAhGAoYoAFIpBFQqgRYyRBwAXgAkAEAmAGDAaABkQmqAQMzLji4AQPIAQD4AQGYAgygAtsJwgIIEAAY7wUYsAPCAgQQIRgVwgIFEAAY7wWYAwCIBgGQBgOSBwMzLjmgB7ossgcDMi45uAfYCcIHBTEuOC4zyAcigAgB&sclient=gws-wiz-serp#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:534ae695,vid:8YhRj53jFJk,st:0
Birelli´s multiinstrumentalism
Two reasons for this video
Firstly there’s just some great violin improv here. mark O'Connor is really a master of American fiddle music, not really know for jazz but he can really play over changes and has his own take on playing swing. His violin solo on this is out of this world. Secondly in practise club today we worked on a Whole Tone Scale line that I think is inspired in some way by wyntons line at 6.26 (ish) It’s really worth just watching this whole video tbh.

@Viktor Houf joined the group in January and posted a video of himself jamming over a jazz standard. He was new to jazz but seemed really dedicated. Each time he posted, he did it quite quite intentionally, telling us what he was trying to do in his playing. When he started he had a great sense of swing but was mainly just playing by ear (I'm going by Viktors words here I think). After a few tips about what to practise in the comments, Viktor really jumped in and put in lots of work and within even a few weeks his playing really made huge leaps in my book. His progress was one of the things that made me think "hey, I think this place is really working" from early on. That's what's great about this space, the community runs itself in a way, like organising a party and then letting it all just happen.

playing harmony
I wonder if anyone has any tips for finding the 3rds (and 7ths) in a chord from the chord name and in time with the melody etc. I can play the whole arpeggio no problem but picking out a specific note seems to addle my brain!
