Most credit cards are built for US spending so if you're outside the US, you'll be earning way less rewards that living in US.
Even some "global rewards" cards can trick you. Your local food delivery app might be coded as groceries or logistics and the bonus just... doesn't apply.
Found a tool last night where you search your everyday local merchants and even your online business software subscriptions merchants and see what you'd actually earn before picking a card.
Works globally (data is user-reported + issuer-confirmed) though smaller local & online merchants may be missing.
Classic example: you get the Chase Ink Preferred for 3x on software subscriptions, but your actual tools code differently and you're stuck at 1x. Chase Ink Unlimited would've been the better call.
For me personally, the business software where i spend almost $2k month on subscriptions isn't even coded to earn 3x rewards. One of my 2 local everyday food app wasn't even coded to earn good rewards
