Blessing or Gradual Deception? The True Measure of Divine Favor
“Say: Whoever is in misguidance—the Most Merciful will extend for him an extension (of respite) until, when they see what they were promised—either the punishment or the Hour—then they will know who is worse in position and weaker in forces.”

The criterion for distinguishing between a blessing that arises from Allah’s pleasure with His servant and a blessing that is actually a gradual enticement (istidrāj) for the one who disbelieves is to observe the state of the person enjoying that blessing—whether they are in a state of guidance or misguidance
