Homework Day 1
5 Struggles
● My day job - I have been working in a dead end IT job for all my life, no career aspirations, no creativity at work, no promotions, I am waiting for the day I can quit my job and do something meaningful for me and my life. But I am a sole earning member of my family, my wife is a home maker and kids in college, so I am not able to quit suddenly and perform comedy full time where there is no money yet.
● Social media failure – 5 years in social media still in 100 and 1000 views jail, I have spent 15,000 $ on coaches and programs which have not helped me, I keep wondering why would anyone stop scrolling for a video by a balding, middle aged, Indian immigrant with an Indian accent, what is so sexy about me and my boring life I can talk about?
● My relationship with alcohol and binge drinking has always been a struggle in my life, many times I binge drink and would not know how I even drove back home. I have embarrassed my wife and kids in many situations because of this.
● 6 years of standup comedy and I do not have my own fan following, I have not made a comedy special and have been doing random gigs and not consistently booking and touring. While people who are far less financially situated than me have taken risks, moved to Austin or NYC to build there comedy career and are being successful, I am unable to quit my day job and pursue comedy full time as I am the sole bread winner and my comedy money is not even close enough to sustain a family of 4.
● Me and my wife have struggled with companionship and intimacy issues for years, we went to marriage counselling, we are 2 different personalities, she is a spiritual seeker and trained meditation teacher whereas I am fooling around with my comedy stuff.

5 Contrasting Wins:
● My day job gives me financial stability to pursue my passion on nights and weekends. As a single earning member of my family it helps reduce financial stress and anxiety and helps my family lead a comfortable life. I have been working from home since covid pandemic and that has also helped me to take my job on the road and perform at comedy shows like a 2 week run in Bahamas where I do the day job from the hotel resort during the day and do comedy shows at night.
● By trying to win in social media I have learnt some valuable skills such as using Canva for posters, thumbnails – using veed.io to edit videos, using IG edits, these are some skills I have developed along the way why still being in 100 and 1000 views jail.
● I have realized the harmful effects of binge drinking and I even stopped drinking for 3 months in 2025-6 just to prove to myself that I can go without alcohol, my situation is much better now and I am proud of myself and how I handled my problem with alcohol in a mature way.
● I have been consistently writing jokes and getting up on stage and grinding. People tell me that I am one of the hardest working comics they know, driving for hours to get stage time and getting better every time I hit the stage. I am not ready to give up on my comedy dreams and one day I will pursue comedy full time.
● We have learnt to respect each others passion and grind and support each other. This is going to be very important in the next phase of our life because we will be empty nesters in few months and with no kids in the house and just me and her, we will need to be extra supportive of what we both want to do and make it a happy home and happy marriage for the both of us.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
● I felt stuck in my boring dead end IT job…but it turned out to be the most financially stable phase of my life
● A ‘dead-end’ IT job doesn’t look impressive…but it solves a problem most people struggle with
● “I thought I needed excitement to feel successful…but stability changed my definition completely.”
