Day 1 Homework
5 Struggles
  • At 30 years old, I don’t have a booming business & continue to live at home. I’ve been chasing the dream of owning my own personal training business for years now. I stay hopeful that I can eventually wake up & not rely on a corporate job to keep me complacent forever.
  • I’ve worked almost every single job one can imagine. From door to door sales to retail, grocery store, to finally my dream of personal training. I’ve worked in an office & realized that I can’t be confined to a desk having no interaction with people. I always felt that a 9-5 wouldn’t ever fulfill my purpose.
  • There will be nights where I constantly feel as if I’m not getting anywhere in life. It’s hard to tell the people closest to me that I feel like a failure. I worked in real estate for 3 years and didn’t succeed. I realized that it all came down to me and my efforts.
  • I’ve struggled with family, friends or people telling me what I should do with my life. Constantly being told I should do this, or work in this field. It hurts that they can’t see I genuinely love being in the gym and training people.
  • I constantly felt that one day I would just “figure it out” and that day hasn’t come yet. That the life I’ve always wanted would become a reality. It hasn’t yet but that doesn’t mean it has to be like this forever.

5 Contrasting Wins
  • Dream: I remember when I was 18,  my parents asked me what I wanted to do & I told them I wanted to be a personal trainer. That dream had never once died. I workout & train every single day.  I have slowly been building my private clientele. Now is the time to ramp it up to the next level.
  • Purpose: Even though I work at a commercial gym, I get to do personal training daily. I get to be around my passion daily and consistently help to improve other people’s lives. It literally gives me strength to keep pushing forward every single day.
  • Existential Crisis: Instead of feeling sorry for myself or feeling like I’m getting nowhere, I decided to take a step toward making my dream a reality. It feels almost like a breath of fresh air. When you know what your goal is and what you need to do to achieve it, nothing can stop you except yourself.
  • External Pressure: I learned to block out the noise of external pressures & focus on what I want to do. I have the passion and heart for being the best personal trainer I can be. I realized a long time ago that I want to do this for me, nobody else.
  • Coaching: Instead of continuing to do the same thing and expecting a different result; I decided to start working with a team who will help push me & guide me towards success and living the life I’ve always wanted. Even being a coach myself, I decided I can’t get to where I need to be without a coach/program.  IG4R has me excited to see what I can achieve not only on Instagram but in my career.

3 Hooks:
  • I spent way too long caring what everyone expected me to do. The decision I made was always up to me.
  • I thought I needed everyone’s support to succeed. It turns out I only needed my own belief.
  • I used to think success meant proving people wrong. Until I realized it had nothing to do with them.
REEL:
Emotion Attempting to Evoke: Self Belief
(Hook): “I spent way too long caring what everyone expected from me.”
(Visual): A video of me in a suit & a clock ticking away rapidly.
(Voiceover): “The decision I made was always up to me.”
(Visual): Video of me training clients, working out & being happy to be in my element.
(Voiceover): “As a wise man once said, Trust yourself. Believe in yourself and your vision of who you want to be. Not what others want you to be. It’s much more fun that way.”
