Fear
I heard that FEAR is the trying to keep us safe and ensure our survival but doesn't give a 'fluff' about our success. As I understand it, Fear evolved to keep us alive. Our nervous system is wired to detect threats, not to assess long-term dreams, creative ambitions, or personal growth. So fear’s job is “keep the body alive right now,” not “help you build a successful creative life.”
That means:
  • It reacts to uncertainty as if it’s danger
  • It prefers routine and predictability
  • It urges you to avoid failure, embarrassment, and risk
  • It interprets emotional discomfort as physical threat
Fear doesn’t care about your success. It cares about your survival. However, I'm learning Fear isn’t an enemy. It’s just an outdated protector. My job isn’t to kill it — it’s to update it.
A healthier relationship that I'm working towards with Ara and Amber's coaching is:
  • Thank it (“I see you’re trying to protect me”)
  • Name it (fear of failure, fear of rejection, fear of expansion, etc.)
  • Lead it (“This isn’t danger; this is growth”)
What do you think? Agree? Disagree?
