The Simple Joy Of Re-Purposing.
Earlier today I was using iron on seam tape to put a flannel patch on the inside knee of a pair of dog walking jeans. The knee had just begun to fray on otherwise good jeans. The blue flannel was from lounge pants I cut one leg short for icing an old knee injury.
As I was doing this, it was very satisfying. Those jeans will be good for a couple more years. I began to think of the many things I re-purpose. Clothes that get demoted to "dirty-work" but still get repaired. Containers used for storage in the shed. Plastic jugs I melt small holes in near the bottom so they will slowly water outdoor plants. Junk mail I use as casual math paper and lists. I began to realize just how many things I do that with.
I then felt a warm thought from Mother Earth. Doing all that creates so much less trash. It prevents the need to buy certain things and reduces all that creating those things entails. Re-purposing really honors the Earth we live on. That brings me joy.
