Some of you have asked me before what meditations I do on the new moon.
I have always had a relationship with the Moon and Source since I am a very young child. I have intuitively been doing these things my whole life, and I am NOW in that KAIROS moment where time and destiny meet and it is all starting to make sense (to me at least 😂.)
Just like the full moon, the energies of the new moon lingers for 3-4 days. I used to spend 2-3 days in meditation and prayer to receive messages for the NOW time. The biblical calendar is a lunar calendar and it operates through seasons and cycles.
I. [Journal + Set Intentions] During the new moon it is a good time to look back over the month, spend time in gratitude and thank God for all that has happened and set intentions for the new month and cycle. I do this through journalling and have been doing this since I'm at least 10 years old. I especially do this around the new year (both Rosh Hashanah and the Gregorian New Year January 1).
Doing this every new cycle and new year is an important time even if you don't do it every month. By setting intentions I don't only journal about what I want to see, do, feel or what I am sensing, I also ask God to show me what He has for me this upcoming month, cycle, or year. So even though I set intentions I am not tied to the outcomes.
In addition, setting intentions for me also means setting the atmosphere. Ambiance and atmosphere are extremely important to me. This can mean lighting candles, putting salt lamps on, diffusing essential oil, and playing healing music. Sometimes I do rose ceremonies or take rose baths.
II. [Silence and Meditation]When I was younger sitting on the floor barefoot in the dark staring at my candle flame, and spending time in silence really helped bring clarity. (This could be done with healing frequency music in the background as well.) Now I don't always do it in the dark, but I do love doing it while holding different stones in the palms of my hands.
Times of silence like this help to "cleanse the palette" and clear your mind and energy field. This allows you to transmute some of your thoughts and get them to be still so that you can really hear. "Be still and know that I AM God."
Another thing I like doing sometimes is plugging my ears with my fingers and listening to my internal sounds. Incorporate some form of silence and clearing into your observance.
III. [Study and prayer & contemplation] - My primary study has been in the Bible and other sacred texts. When I was a teenager it was primarily the bible and poetry and automatic writing that came from those times of meditation. This does not only have to be studying spiritual texts, for you it might be poetry, or music lyrics, but not a general study a DEEP study. Something that you MEDITATE on. Use this time to ASK QUESTIONS.
I would go back and forth between these things for 2 - 3 days sometimes without sleeping (I'm not recommending that, but for me it is a flow state and I don't always know that a whole day went by.) But anyone can do this over the course of the 3-4 day new moon cycle.
IV. [Guided meditation and Breath work] Nowadays I have added guided meditation and breath work to break through some blockages. I use this to go deeper into all I have been contemplating and studying above.
To take it a step further, each new moon brings us into a new month on the lunar calendar. So each year, cycle, season and month brings with it particular open doors or sometimes even warnings.
Here are some of the blessings of the month of Cheshvan:
OPEN DOOR TO TURN THE BITTER THINGS SWEET
Cheshvan is known as the month that is gifted with a two-day Rosh Chodesh that helps to make a month that can be bitter and turn it sweet!
Following the renewal that has occurred in the last month, Cheshvan allows us to begin to see things in a NEW WAY and engage in those things that may have once challenged us in the past season. This also coincides with the tribe of this month, Manasseh. Manasseh is the firstborn of Joseph and the brother of Ephraim. His name derives from the word “to forget,” literally meaning, “to leap, up and away.” In Gen 41:5 “Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh. "For," he said, "God has made me forget all my hardship and all my father's house."
In this month of Cheshvan we can see that it is a time to fully enter into all the Lord has for us in this season. We are to hear His invitation to enter in and let Him shut the door behind us. As we move forward, we will press past all of our trails and hardships forgetting those things of our former years and looking to the Lord for the promise of our inheritance. As we learned from Manasseh, Lord has placed us in a strategic position in this moment of time to secure our inheritance by not allowing the famiLIAR to overtake us anymore but to be prepared by staying in our frame and holding true to ourselves to the end.
BLESSINGS OF ABUNDANCE AND PLENTY
In Deu 33:13-16 we can see clearly that the blessing of abundance and plenty was of every earthly and heavenly blessing Mosses could imagine. He declares and prophesies that his land will be blessed of the Lord. It is also the time of the rains of Noah. Rains bring great plenty from heaven to earth.
BLESSINGS OF GREAT POWER
This second portion of the blessing, in Deu 33:17, is for great power.
Joshua was from the tribe of Ephraim and Gideon was from the tribe of Manasseh. As you may already know both of these men were valiant men who went to battle for the Lord and reigned victoriously.
A TIME OF HEALING
Gilead is also another area that Manasseh was given as an inheritance. King David fled to a place in Gilead for refuge when he was hiding from Absalom. Elijah the prophet was born in Gilead. Another thing Gilead is well known for is the balm of Gilead. This balm is known because of its healing power.
A TIME FOR WOMEN TO BE BOLD (DIVINE FEMININE COME FORTH)
In this month, part of the blessing of the tribe of Manasseh is that DAUGHTERS can be bold to speak up and be reminded that God has promised us an inheritance along with the sons! In addition, because the daughters of Manasseh received an inheritance among his sons this tribe inherited 10 PORTIONS! The Lord is saying, that when you KNOW WHO YOU ARE IN HIM (SONS & DAUGHTERS) you will inherit 10x more than you could have ever imagined! Ask for your inheritance!”
A TIME TO PLANT SEEDS
Right now we are in the cycle of the seed until Cheshvan 15 (the full moon) then we will shift into the cycle of the root. So it's important to note that what you sow during this SEED cycle is what will TAKE ROOT in the next cycle to come. We will also be shifting from the Healing angel Raphael to the STRENGTH of Gabriel.
