We spend so much energy correcting the version of us that lives in someone else’s head.
They think you’re cold.
They think you’ve changed.
They think you’re selfish.
They remember who you were five years ago and somehow expect that person to still be available. 😂
We rush to explain ourselves because being misunderstood feels unbearable.
But here’s the uncomfortable little truth:
You don’t need to manage every interpretation of you.
- Some people will misunderstand you because they only know an old version of you.
- Some because they need you to fit their story.
- Some simply because… well, their brain has already written the screenplay. 🎬
Your job isn’t to run around correcting every fictional character they created out of you.
Your job is to know who you are now.
Let them update their version when they’re ready.
And if they never do?
That’s their homework. Not yours. 😉
