Psalm 27 is known as the Psalm for the Days of Awe and in the month of Elul (Sept. 4- Oct. 2) it is a tradition for the Jewish people to recite this each day. [Please see the truths within the writing even if you do not believe in the bible. I wrote this article 11 years ago and it still rings true today, especially RIGHT NOW! God is Source/Universe.]
We as human beings since the fall have been hiding from the Presence of God. Everything we have been taught, overtly or inadvertently, was to hide from His Presence. We need to SEEK HIS PRESENCE and COME OUT FROM HIDING! As we move from this New Moon/Month to the Full Moon (9/17-18) and the middle of the month, it’s time to make our INTENTIONS KNOWN.
The intensity is increasing as we move into this Harvest Moon because there will also be a partial lunar eclipse! But that only means that our intentions should be clearer because it is HARVEST TIME!!!
This Super Harvest moon should be the first of many seasons in which you will start to see your harvest. When we move out from this full moon we move towards the day of creation (Sept 27th , notice it’s on the 27th!) and then the Ring of FIRE on the New Moon and Rosh Hashanah on Oct. 2. [On October 2, 2024, a ring of fire solar eclipse will be visible in parts of the South Pacific, southern Chile, and southern Argentina. The eclipse will also be partially visible in Hawaii. During an annular solar eclipse, the moon appears slightly smaller than the sun and blocks most of the sun's disk, leaving a ring of light around the moon. The name comes from the Latin word annulus, which means ring. Google Ai]
This is your time to ARISE and SHINE in the light of the Super Harvest Moon!
The first mention of the word presence is in Genesis 2:25, “And the man and his wife were both naked and were not embarrassed or ashamed in each other’s presence.” The man and woman were naked and not ashamed or embarrassed in each other’s presence. Then 8 verses later in Genesis 3:8 we see the word presence used for the first time to refer to the Lord, “ And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.”
Like the cool of day in the Garden, we are to walk and be in and with the Presence of God, always. The tangible manifest presence of God. Breathe it in! On the authority of the word of God we must Require His Presence as a necessity. Not just a want or a desire but the necessity - essential part of our existence and our being. Until we walk in this manner, like Adam and Eve did in the garden, we are still technically outside of the Garden, therefore, the only consistent drive we should have is of His Presence. With that we can do anything! With His Presence, we can pour out power and we will have the grace we need to accomplish all the Lord has put before us to advance His Kingdom (seek first his kingdom and all will be added to you).
Without His presence, everything is in vain. Like Moses we should not go or do anything without His Presence.
So how do we get there?
Here are four basic keys to help get there:
1) INQUIRE (Ps 27:4a, 8)
a) Pray – ask for clarity, understanding, revelation, wisdom and discernment.
b) Study – His word. Elul is one of two months (Sivan being the other) that are dedicated to study of Torah. We study scripture to find God and Know His ways in hopes that if we find Him we will walk in His ways according to His power and will. Seeking knowledge and wisdom should not be for our personal, natural or earthly gain, but should be to glorify God and add value to the collective.
2) MEDITATE (Ps 27:4b)
a) On His word – Logos (written) and Rhema (NOW/Living/Prophetic). “The Lord walking in the Garden in the cool of the day.” Ah, can you hear Him walking, feel His presence in the breeze.
b) On Jesus – the sweet attractiveness and delightful loveliness of the Lord.
Christ in YOU!
c) Consider – Think carefully about the scripture you are reading. Think about and be drawn toward (a course of action) contemplate, and reflect. He wants you to think carefully about His instruction, which will draw you toward a course of action, bringing you into harmony with Him. (Journal)
3) WORSHIP/SING/PRAISE (Psalm)
Adore Him.
Psalm 61:7-6, “May He sit enthroned forever before the face of God; O ordain that loving-kindness and faithfulness may watch over Him [Me]! So will I sing praise to Your name forever, paying my vows day by day.” Singing is very therapeutic take time to release some of the energy from the core of your being, through singing and shouts of joy!
4) DECLARE WITH EXPECTANCY! (Ps 27:14)
Remind Him of His word, “on the authority of your word I insist/require that I dwell in your presence all the days of my life.”
In this month of Elul [I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine] when the Shekinah presence is near, do not let the opportunity pass you by to seek His Face. Start now, start with Psalm 27. INQUIRE, CONSIDER, MEDITATE ON, AND REQUIRE HIS PRESENCE AS A VITAL NECESSITY IN YOUR LIFE!
Put all else aside focus on SOURCE and He will take care of the rest. Do everything in the presence of the Lord. Psalm 16:11, “You will show me the path of life; in Your Presence is fullness of joy, at Your right hand there are pleasures forevermore.”
Psalm 27
[A Psalm] of David.
1 The Lord is my Light and my Salvation—whom shall I fear or dread? The Lord is the Refuge and Stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?
2 When the wicked, even my enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.
3 Though a host encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, [even then] in this will I be confident.
4 One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek, inquire for, and [insistently] require: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord [in His presence] all the days of my life, to behold and gaze upon the beauty [the sweet attractiveness and the delightful loveliness] of the Lord and to meditate, consider, and inquire in His temple.
5 For in the day of trouble He will hide me in His shelter; in the secret place of His tent will He hide me; He will set me high upon a rock.
6 And now shall my head be lifted up above my enemies round about me; in His tent I will offer sacrifices and shouting of joy; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord.
7 Hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud; have mercy and be gracious to me and answer me!
8 You have said, Seek My face [inquire for and require My presence as your vital need]. My heart says to You, Your face (Your presence), Lord, will I seek, inquire for, and require [of necessity and on the authority of Your Word].
9 Hide not Your face from me; turn not Your servant away in anger, You Who have been my help! Cast me not off, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation!
10 Although my father and my mother have forsaken me, yet the Lord will take me up [adopt me as His child].
11 Teach me Your way, O Lord, and lead me in a plain and even path because of my enemies [those who lie in wait for me].
12 Give me not up to the will of my adversaries, for false witnesses have risen up against me; they breathe out cruelty and violence.
13 [What, what would have become of me] had I not believed that I would see the Lord’s goodness in the land of the living!
14 Wait and hope for and expect the Lord; be brave and of good courage and let your heart be stout and enduring. Yes, wait for and hope for and expect the Lord.
