In Thai culture, it usually refers to a hard life, a messy life, a life no one really envies. This little girl in the photo is the 8th dog my family has raised. And when I look at my dog, I start to wonder… What if a dog-dog life isn’t something bad at all? To me, dogs are not just pets. They are friends. They are family. They are our wrestling partners — like when we wrestle with pillows to release stress and heavy feelings. But what amazes me most is this: dogs are our teachers. Why? Because dogs let go easily. They get angry — and then they move on. They are loyal without conditions. When it’s time to play, they play with their whole heart. And even when they roll in something dirty or smelly, they never feel ashamed of who they are. Sometimes, I think humans should live like that too. A little lighter. A little freer.
