DR "lite" via personal cell phones?

I have a client that doesn't like the idea of mass texts via GHL because of the requirement to include a STOP message. They brought up the idea of just manually texting a chunk of leads each day from the sales person's phone. Anyone know the compliance rules around this? Does it still need to include opt-out messages etc.?
