Last night I went with our u23 team for a midweek game. Around 70mins in a high velocity 50/50 tackle was made and the opponents player broke both fibula and tibia bones just above the ankle. (Not a pretty sight as you can imagine). At leiston fc we have 6 trained staff including myself that know how to deal with this. There were 2 of at the game....by chance I will add....so the lad was properly cared for and injury correctly stabilised quickly prior to ambulance arrival.....
Now ALOT of clubs don't have anyone that can offer this level of trauma treatment. Your average match physio will NOT be trained for this.
I cannot reccomend the FAs emergency first aid course, it covers all serious eventualities on the pitch and prepares you to help medical staff on arrival. Highly reccomended
