How important are plyometrics
Through coaching various age ranges at various levels ive become more obsessed with the study of plyometric training in goalkeepers. Its very evident to me as gks go through growth phases that their movement mechanics change dramatically. This is not because they're getting worse technically or plateaued in training, its because their brain and body aren't keeping up with each other during this period. Plyometrics in youth keepers is so important as it allows the signals from the brain to keep firing into the right muscle groups when needed. It also helps with many other areas like speed, agility and power applications in the movements we want to do. So if you or a goalkeeper you know "cant jump" or "has no co-ordination" apply some plyometrics to their sessions 💪🏻

@Hubert Albinus loads of benefits to it
My goalkeeper cant kick 😤
This is a comment I hear alot and was once asked by a coach "how do i help a goalkeeper kick better" on a UEFA C course.....well its actually simpler than it sounds. BUT it requires patience. The first thing you have to remember is that most kids aren't physically strong enough in the right areas of the lower body to achieve the desired outcome. Secondly you have to pay attention to the technique and ball flight. Start small. With the appropriate sized ball get the keeper to chip the ball into your hands over a distance of 12 yards. This will install confidence and allow easier practice repetition. Build up the distance in sensible increments until max power/control is achieved. Bare in mind that it may not be very far at first.
